New Book release + free book!

Today is the release of Refuse - the second book in the Recoil Trilogy!

In a near-future USA decimated by an incurable plague and tightly controlled by a repressive government, teenagers with special skills are recruited and trained to fight in the war against terror.

Now a rebellion is brewing.

All sixteen year-old expert sniper Jinxy James wanted was a little freedom, but now she’s trapped between the government and the rebels, unsure of who the real enemy is. When she uncovers appalling secrets and twisted motivations, Jinxy begins to question her allegiances. Soon she will need to choose between love and freedom, as she struggles to do the right thing in a world gone horribly wrong.

Refuse is the second book in the Young Adult dystopian romance that began with Recoil. This much anticipated sequel is filled with romance and heartache, shocking twists, and a thought-provoking examination of freedom, fear, loyalty and identity.

Refuse begins immediately after the cliffhanger ending of Recoil. Buy it now to continue the compelling story of Jinxy, Quinn and the forces ranged against them.

To celebrate this book birthday, I'm giving away the first book in the Trilogy, Recoil! Get your copy here, but hurry, it's FREE only until Wednesday 3 August.

Scarred Audiobook

These days, I do about 95% of my reading via audiobooks. I love "reading" while I'm exercising, shopping, driving and doing housework. So I'm beyond excited, (I'm practically unplayable), to announce that my swoony, angsty young adult romance, Scarred, is now available on audiobook!

Yesterday I listened to the final, finished audiobook from beginning to end and it's gorgeous! The male and female narrators (Kelsey Egan and Richard Lothian) have done an awesome job of bringing the characters and story to life!

You can buy it here:

Coming soon...!

I'm so excited about my latest YA series - a YA romance trilogy set in a near-future dystopian USA. The first book, Recoil, releases in May and is up for pre-order on Amazon now.

I love this kick-ass, conflicted heroine, the hero is just gorgeous, and hope the scarily realistic world of the story helps readers stay woke.

I'm planning to bring all three books out this year - boom, boom! BOOM! The second book, Refuse, is already in edits and cover design.

RECOIL

There’s more than one enemy and more than one war. The Game is real.

Three years after a series of terrorist attacks flooded the US with a lethal plague, society has changed radically.

Sixteen year-old Jinxy James spends her days trapped at home – immersed in virtual reality, worrying about the plague and longing for freedom. Then she wins a war simulation game and is recruited into a top-secret organisation where talented teenagers are trained to become agents in the war on terror. Eager to escape her mother’s over-protectiveness and to serve her country, Jinxy enlists and becomes an expert sniper of infected mutant rats.

She’s immediately drawn to Quinn O’Riley, a charming and subversive intelligence analyst who knows more about the new order of government and society than he is telling. Then a shocking revelation forces Jinxy to make an impossible decision, and she risks losing everything.

Recoil is the first book in a Young Adult dystopian romance trilogy, and makes great reading for lovers of Rick Yancey (The Fifth Wave), Suzanne Collins (Hunger Games), and Veronica Roth (Divergent).

Fault Lines is here!

The Eco Warriors are back!

Samantha Steadman and her friends are now in Grade 10 at Clifford House boarding school but this year, cracks are beginning to appear in their friendships, romances and their belief in themselves. When Samantha joins ecological activists to block fracking in the Karoo, she expects that her best friends will be right alongside her in the fight. But Nomusa takes a very different view of the controversial issue and Jessie, under the influence of a glamorous new girl at the school, is too obsessed with her weight and appearance to care about ecology.

Samantha feels very alone as she tries to deal with pressure from boys, school and her Poison Dwarf of a science teacher, all while uncovering a personal mystery from the past and struggling to save the Karoo – as well as her friendships – from splitting down their fault lines.

I loved writing this one - it's funny and romantic and more complex than the previous two. The girls are growing up!

F ault Lines is out and available in SA. International readers will have to wait a couple of months for it to cross the ocean, I'm afraid. You can grab a copy online at Loot (currently lowest price), Exclusives, Takealot, or get it in-store at Love Books, Exclusives or Reader's Warehouse. If they don't have it, ask them to order - the ISBN is 978-1-4853-0422-7

I'm also available for school visits, or come to the Kingsmead Book Fair on 21 May and let's chat in person!

Cover Reveal!

I'm so excited to share the cover of my latest book baby with you! Faultlines is the third in my eco-warriors series for younger teens, and continues the story of Samantha, Nomusa and Jessie that started in Turtle Walk and its sequel Rock Steady. I'm delighted with this cover - would love to hear your thoughts :)
