Launch Event

It was a dark and stormy night...

Well, ok, it was a dark night. All power had been loadshed, and Lood du Plessis, the gathered friends and readers, and I sat in a spooky darkness punctured by a couple of minilamps, talking about crime, psychological thrillers, strong women and the story of Dark Whispers and its translation into Afrikaans as Skadustemme. I read the first page from each version into the eerie darkness and enjoyed chatting with my interviewer, Lood, who asked new and intelligent questions.

Bookslive has done a great write-up of the event, here. Thanks to Kate Rogan and crew from the divine Love Books in Melville (such a fabulous indie bookshop), to Lood and Annetjie van Wynegaard for live-tweeting (and for the pic above left), to my publishers, Protea, and to all those who had braved the dark night to come out and support me. There were some amazing authors in the house, too, including Edyth Bulbring, Jayne Bauling, Pamela Power, Fiona Snyckers, and Reney Warrington (who took the pic on the left). It was fun -- you should have been there! :)

You can see more pics from the night at BooksLive's Facebook page here.
